Privacy Policy

Last updated: January 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Plateful ("the app," "we," "us") handles information when you use it. Plateful is developed by mskerba. If you have questions, contact us at mskerba13@gmail.com.

Plateful is a recipe app. You answer a few questions about what you want to eat, and the app generates a single recipe for you and offers a hands-free cook mode.

Summary

Plateful does not require an account and does not ask you to sign in. We do not collect your name, email, or contact information. The main information handling to be aware of is that the answers you provide to generate a recipe are sent to a third-party AI service, described below.

Information the App Processes

1. Your Recipe Questionnaire Answers

To generate a recipe, the app uses the answers you provide, which may include:

  • Meal type (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack, dessert)
  • Speed preference (quick or no-rush)
  • Temperature preference (hot or cold)
  • Ingredients you enter
  • Any free-text notes you add, such as diet, cuisine, or other requests

Please do not enter sensitive personal or health information in the free-text notes field. The app displays a notice about this before your answers are sent.

2. App Settings and Usage Stored on Your Device

Your language preference, your saved recipes (a premium feature), and a count of how many recipes you have generated are stored locally on your device. This information stays on your device and is not transmitted to us.

3. Purchase Information

If you buy a subscription, the transaction is processed by Apple and managed through our payments provider (RevenueCat). We do not receive or store your payment card details. See the third-party section below.

How the App Uses This Information

  • Questionnaire answers are used solely to generate the recipe you requested.
  • Locally stored settings are used to run the app (for example, showing the app in your chosen language and tracking your free-recipe allowance).
  • Purchase information is used to unlock premium features.

Third Parties the App Shares Data With

Plateful shares data only in the ways described here.

AI Recipe Generation — OpenRouter and Anthropic

When you generate a recipe, the answers listed above are sent over the internet to OpenRouter, which routes the request to the Anthropic Claude AI model to produce the recipe. Recipes are AI-generated.

Before your answers are sent for the first time, the app shows an in-app notice identifying this and asks for your agreement. Your answers are sent for the purpose of generating a recipe.

We encourage you to review the privacy practices of OpenRouter and Anthropic to understand how they handle data. We share this data only after obtaining your permission and only with third parties that provide comparable data protection.

Recipe Images — TheMealDB

To show photos alongside recipes, the app requests images from TheMealDB using the recipe title and ingredient keywords. No personal information is sent for this purpose.

Subscriptions — RevenueCat and Apple

Subscriptions are handled by Apple's in-app purchase system and managed through RevenueCat, which processes purchase and entitlement data to confirm your subscription status. See RevenueCat's privacy policy and Apple's privacy policy.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data for advertising.

Data Retention

Settings and saved recipes stored on your device remain until you delete them or uninstall the app. Uninstalling the app removes locally stored data. For data sent to the third parties above, retention is governed by their respective privacy policies. We do not maintain our own server-side database of your questionnaire answers.

Your Choices and Rights

Because Plateful stores your settings locally and does not require an account, you can remove locally stored information at any time by uninstalling the app. You can decline to send your answers to the AI service, in which case a recipe using that service will not be generated.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or CCPA to access, correct, or delete personal information; to exercise these, contact us at mskerba13@gmail.com.

Children's Privacy

Plateful is not directed to children under 13 (or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Permissions

Plateful does not request access to your camera, photos, microphone, location, or contacts.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
